Pilot Kai Ficek is the first female pilot to join the critical care transport team recently working at their Portage base, along with Flight Physician Cynthia Griffin and Flight Nurse Deb Volgarino the all-female crew had their first call to transport a patient to University Hospital. Established in 1985, UW Med Flight provides expert medical care and logs more than 1,000 flights per year and is one of only a handful of air medical services in the country with a physician on every flight. Med Flight operate the EC135 and EC145 on a 24/7 service at three locations: University Hospital in Madison, Iowa County Airport in Mineral Point and Divine Savior Healthcare in Portage, Wisconsin.
